When the Lord is ready to do a new thing in your life, he first starts with you.

Many times things in your life shift and there seems to be no way to explain what is happening.

The result may seem overwhelming but it could also be that God is shifting things around you, to get you to see that he has more for you. Ultimately, his desire is for you to come into alignment with his plan for your life.

Gods plan for your life includes a process that requires your heart and mind to be transformed before you’re able to receive the new.

God brings to our attention things that lie in the heart so that he can reveal what needs to change or expand.

He desires to grow us into who and where he calls us to be, so that we can be effective for his kingdom and fruitful in the earth.

Often times there isn’t a warning before he decides that he is about to shift things your life, but I believe he allows us to participate and that participation leads towards an activation of the heart and the forming of new desires. The desires of his heart becomes the desire of ours, more refined and attuned for the direction in which our lives are to go.

There’s truth to the saying that if you want something different you must first do something different. It’s frustrating to have an expection for new results yet we continue to participate in the same old patterns or habits.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18–19 KJV

What can you do different?

I once worked with a fitness trainer at the local gym who asked me to describe my workout routine and the results I was expecting to achieve. After giving him a few details of my workouts, he quickly accessed that I would soon come to a plateau in my workouts, get bored, and eventually be looking at the front door.

He was totally right.

It happened before and would be just a matter of time before it would happen again.

He then said something in that moment that would bring clarity to my life and in the area of my workouts.

His statement was, “If you train the same you remain the same”.

All these many years, I would stick with the same routine of running and lifting weights with very little else incorporated.

Within I knew I needed something different yet continued with this cycle like a hamster on a wheel. I had become comfortable in this routine, I also knew it would give me faster results.

However, after incorporating a few of his new suggestions into my workouts, I began to see changes almost instantly.

It wasn’t until I experienced new results from incorporating different techniques, that I understood that this was a lesson needed for more than my body but my ultimately good for my life. I began feeling stronger than I ever have before, developed new outlook towards my fitness goals, and a renewed sense of hope for what could be possible.

The trainers statement had not only changed the way I moved forward in my workouts, but I applied what he had said to different areas of my life. Most importantly, to my perception of the things I had a tough time letting go of from my past.

One small modification in my daily routine made the difference and that modification began when I dedicated the beginning of my day to prayer and Gods Word.

Thoughts have power and what we meditate on matters.

Many days I remember waking up to what seemed like a broken tape recorder, replaying the same old encounters or words, that would only serve to create an atmosphere of confusion and offense.

I began to discover that just because the thought had come, did not mean that it was a thought I was suppose to choose to meditate upon. I had a choice and with that choice I began to cast down the imagination.

This new revelation caused me to re-evaluate my relationships with my family, my community, and with myself.

There were times when I had viewed myself through the lens of my past, according to all the things that happened, who left, somehow believing that I deserved all of it.

The meditation of my heart was so focused on past situations that it seemed to ultimately lead to self fulfilled prophecies, manifesting at different points of life.

But when I realized this was not the love of God nor his heart towards me, I began to seek him for how I should set my expectation.

What we allow ourselves to meditate on the most, dictates the direction our lives will follow. Our perspective is shaped by the thoughts we meditate on which include past and present situations as well as the voices we allow to influence us.

I began asking God to reveal to me how he sees me, how he sees others, and to cleanse my heart and mind so that I could know his love towards me to love me and those he placed in my life.

As I continued in prayer and study in Gods word, I began to find my heart a little more light and those things that I used to meditate on, turned into desires for the opportunity to help others as well as seek forgiveness.

I knew God was doing something new in me, and I certainly looked forward to spending every day with him to receive new instructions.

Those things that had occurred in my past were the same things God was wanting me to surrender to him so he could to take me into a place in him, to find restoration and peace.

It was in that place of peace, where I found my heart settled in him knowing without a shadow of a doubt, that he was with me and working out the details of those things I held onto so tightly.

He needed me to see that my heart was in need of healing but most importantly to trust him in the midst of present conflicts or past disappointments. In this he revealed that he alone possesses the power to work all things together for our good, and provide us with a testimony that not only helps others but points them to him.

However it wasn’t until I accepted the invitation by God to look within my heart and agree that change was needed.

It was then, that I was afforded the opportunity to receive what my heart was truly in need of.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

He loves us in spite of our flaws and loves us enough to reveal to us that we need to change in order to live the life he created for us to live.

God makes all things new when we surrender our thoughts, plans, and ideas to him about who we are, what we dont have, or what we think we need before being counted worthy of his love.

God desires that we prosper as our souls prosper. Everyday must be a conscious choice to submit our lives to the will of God, renew our minds in his word, and meditate on his word.

As we meditate on his word, he keeps us in perfect peace, and that peace brings transformation and joy.

If you don’t like how you are feeling, change your mind by being inspired to be transformed into a new creation.
